Join us for our three day workshop for a full on experience of clay making and flower arranging. Part one of this workshop (day 1&2) you will learn the basic fundamentals of handbuilding small to medium sculptural vases. Part two (day 3) will be learning about modern ikebana-inspired flower arranging styles and techniques in their very own handbuilt ceramic vase.
Day 1: May 7th, 10am-2pm
-Introduction of ikebana - flower arranging principles, different floral design styles and mechanics inspired by different vase shapes.
-Demo on fundamentals of handbuilding and coil making for sculptural shapes.
Day 2: May 8th, 10am-1pm
-Demo on texture, carving, and surface design.
-Finish up work and pick from a selection of glazes.
Day 3: May 21st, 10am-1pm
-Demo of flower arranging techniques.
-Creating your dream flower arrangement with fresh local blooms and greenery in your finished handbuilt vase!
Note: There will be a two week gap between Day 2 and Day 3 of the workshop to allow enough time for clay work to dry and be fired and glazed.
Materials included: 12lbs of clay, tools, glazing and firing. Flower arranging materials include chicken wire, metal pin frogs, floral tape, and assortment of fresh local flowers and greenery to take home!
